Soul Engine II by pizzacat Soul Engine II by pizzacat
Just a little quick concept junk for a IRL friends setting and story. Steam and clock work golems controlled by a person inside who using channeling crystals expand their soul into the golem making it their temporary body as a form of piloting these things...or something like that =P

First solid design so far for a soul engine. Still its got too much of a Japanese feel to it. Wanna refine it to a more true medevil Europe and Western style.

I really like the steam-punkiness of this, especially in the joint construction. I also think it only has traces of japanese design. it reminds me of ( [link] ) style Warjacks, with a more humanoid tone to them (less hunchbacked, which I think is a good thing).

The most "japanese" things about this, as somebody else mentioned, are the (lack of) bulkiness of the armor, and the pointed "toes"
I think if you fleshed out the feet a bit to make it feel more like "boots" it would feel more "europe" but honestly, I think the design is as close to perfect as you are going to get it.

I would not touch it from here, except that I am not a fan of capes haha

I picture humans standing at about the knee on these things, and can very much see them on a pseudo-medieval battlefield, or storming through a courtyard or something. very very cool and well done!

im think it is not japanase but an universal cartoon...
american cartoon proportions,anime traces...

Almost looks like a Steampunk Armored Core. :3

Interesting design so far! I rather like the heavy Teutonic designs, and for future types you may want to look at things like French or Spanish motifs, as you incorporate them very well!

Mmm, very nice! Excellent structural work here, love the armor design. If you want to get rid of that Japanese look, you'll probably have to thicken the armor just a bit, in the right places. But yes, this is brilliant. Nice work.

I feel it may be too reminiscent of Escaflowne, but maybe I'm just seeing things. That could explain the japanese feel.
